Political Post

Political Post

Not sure if you've noticed, but I am a political person.  I'm not always great with words, but here comes a ramble anyways.

First, I fully support Ravelry and their recent ban.  There really is no way to have a safe and welcoming space for people when some of those people can throw their rage and hatred around like a weapon. A lot of people I think are not reading their entire notice, and I definitely suggest you do so.  Some people are seeing Trump ban and hearing that suddenly yarnies are against all conservatives or all republicans.

I've had this discussion with my own family, some of whom are republican conservatives.  It's clear that Trump himself is racist, sexist, ableist and a bully.  I have a problem with him, Trump specifically, as a terrible human being who has the power and influence right now to push his ideals on others.  I think that promoting him as the figurehead of an entire party, and assuming everyone in that party is just as horrible, is wrong.  But it is also a wrong to assume just because he claims to be republican should mean that every republican everywhere must agree with and support everything he does.

I am definitely not a conservative or republican, but I know some people who are and I love them.  I would never be angry with someone for having different priorities and opinions than I have.  I really love to have discussions about issues that are important to me.  Feel free to send me an email or message if you have any questions.

I want to be clear that I will not support or allow anyone in my space to use race, gender or gender identity, sexuality, abilities or mental health as a weapon against others.

If I ever say or do something that seems to do this, please let me know so that I can evaluate my own actions and words and try to do better.  No one is perfect, but we cannot alienate people who think differently than us.  What a boring place the world would be if everyone always agreed on everything.

On a yarn note, you will see a new segment option in my yarn listings called The Yarn Revolution.  Here will be a separate listing for any yarns that include a portion of profits being donated to a cause.  For each listing, there is a link to read more about that group or cause and also a link to donate directly to them without purchasing.  Some colors are semi-solids - those are always available in the shop and will donate $1 per skein.  Monthly colors will only be available along with the month they were released each year - those will donate $5 per skein purchased.  Please check them out.  If you have any questions, please feel free to email me.

And seriously my yarnie rebels, be good to each other.
