Strange Rainbow - 13 Days of Halloween Mystery Mini Skein Set & Wrap Kit - 2026

Halloween is my very favorite holiday.  Monster movies, ghosts, costumes, friends.... What's not to love?  Even when we can't be together, we can watch the same movies.   And who doesn't want to watch more scary movies with yarn?

This mystery mini skein set includes 13 mini skeins individually packaged in little satin bags.  Each skein was inspired by a horror or sci-fi movie featuring LGBTQ+ main characters.   Movies could be science fiction, comedy, cult classics or horror.  There will be gore.  And possibly even cartoons.

Each mini comes with a quote from the queer movie inspiration.  This time around we are setting up a watch-along as well! 

Your item will include a list of dates for the watch along  - this year we will be doing the watch-along in Discord, so make sure you reach out to Mary (QRG@rebelpurl.com) with your discord info for an invite. The movies will be listed only with each mini so the list of Watch Along dates won't ruin the surprise. There will be a viewing party email sent out via discord group so we can watch together. 

The pattern to be released with the sets will be a knitted wrap.  It will also be a surprise.  The printout will show only black and white images so as not to ruin the color surprise and will not be pictured on Ravelry or www.rebelpurl.com until November. This wrap will be a  4 row repeat with a little bit of lace, stockinette and garter.  Only one row our of every 4 requires counting.

Finally, there will also be a little stitch marker gift in with your mini set.  

These skeins were dyed in semi-solid/tonal colors.  They can be used to create one item, knit up separately or crocheted individually -  however you choose. 

Dyed on 4 Plies of the Apocalypse, each mini skein is 20 grams of 4 ply sock yarn or about 87.2 yards.  This makes the total weight of the mini set 260 grams and the length about 1133 yards total.

Watch Along will begin in August and continue each week on Sunday evenings through the end of October.  This way we can each try to KAL with the current color of the week, or at least watch the movies together.
